Back to Dancing and Gymnastics

The girls have waited all summer to go back to our wonderful dance and gymnastics studio. Julia is taking tap, ballet and gymnastics. Savannah is taking jazz, tap and gymnastics. Savannah is also a member of the Marilyn Sanders Performance Team. It was such an honor that Mrs. Marilyn choose Savannah to be a member of the team. Our niece Meg is also a member of the Performance Team. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful place to take our kids to lessons and the wonderful people that work in this studio. We are truly lucky to have such a wonderful gymnastics teacher, who the girls love and feel so comfortable with! A big thanks goes out to all of the MSPAC staff!

Happy 175th Anniversary to Zion

The church I grew up in and am a member of again now celebrated her 175th anniversary today. It was a great service with lots of guest. The preacher who served while I was young and who also did the services for our wedding was the guest speaker today. It was so great to see him again.

First Day of K4

Julia had a great day at Pre-kindergarten today. She did not want Trey to take her to school. She wanted Mrs. Mandi and Blake to take her to school. She did let Trey get a few pictures of her before she left this morning.

Preschool Open House

Julia has changed to a different preschool this year. She will be going to Winfield Nursery School at Winfield First United Methodist Church. Her teacher is Mrs. Paula and seems to be very sweet. Julia is very excited about her new school because Mrs. Heather Bostick, Blake Ballard and lots of little girls are there. I so hope we have a great year.

One Last Summer Hoorah

Saturday, August 6th we went to the Barons game with the Newmans and the Chaffins. We have had a great summer hanging out with these great friends. I cannot believe the summer is over, but I am pretty sure our fun times are not even close to ending.

Winfield Elementary Open House

I am officially still mad at myself because Thursday night when we went for open house at Savannah's and Jack's school I forgot my camera. I always have a camera with me. I couldn't believe it. Anyway the kids got to meet their awesome new teachers.

Jack is starting 2nd grade on Monday and is in Mrs. Mullins class. We are so excited. I have known her since I was very young and she is such an awesome teacher. Jack has to have lots of structure at school so Mr. Thomley did well by placing Jack in her class.

Savannah is starting 4th grade. This is her last year at the elementary school (sniff, sniff). Her homeroom teacher is Mrs. South. She is very sweet and seems to be very excited about teaching. This year Savannah will be changing classes for each of her academic areas. Her other teachers are: Mrs. Addison for Science, Mrs. Kleypas for Math, Mrs. Berryhill for Reading, Mrs. Nelson for Language and Mrs. South for History. Savannah is super excited about changing classes.

Trey will hopefully get pictures of the kids the first day of school!

Myrtle Beach, SC

This summer we canceled our annual trip to Destin due to the oil spill and ventured over the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We had no idea what to expect so we went with our eyes wide open. Needless to say, Myrtle Beach is not Destin on the East Coast. We had a great time, but will not be vacationing in Myrtle Beach again. It was a little too touristy for our taste. We do like to have the availability of many places to eat, but we do not enjoy buffets and so many things to do. We like the beach!

The big kids got to ride a mechanical bull. It was so funny. The lady running the bull was not from the USA and it was very funny to hear her telling the kids what to do. She would tell each of the kids riding "if you want to go faster smack the bull." Julia said this over and over all week. We also went to eat at a cool place called The Flying Fish. The guys working at the fish market would throw the fish like they do in the large fish markets on the West Coast. It was very cool. We also ate at Margaritaville, Rioz and T-Bonz. All were good places to eat.

Our resort had water slides, a water submarine, lazy rivers and multiple pools. We spent a lot of time at the pools. The kids didn't like the ocean as well as they like the gulf. There was a barrier of shells you had to walk through in the water before you could get to where the bottom was sandy. It hurt your feet and I was afraid the kids would get all scratched up if they feel off their boogie boards in the shells.

On our way home we stayed in Atlanta and went to a few places. We went to IKEA looking for a new dresser and chest of drawers for Savannah and Julia. We have found one and hopefully we will be able to go over to Atlanta and purchase one this coming weekend. We had a great dinner at Papacitos; the only Mexican place that Trey really likes! On Sunday we took the kids to World of Coca-Cola and to the Varisty before heading home.
We had a great vacation even if it wasn't really to a destination we absolutely loved.
