Gatlinburg Take 2

After we left the aquarium, we had lunch and then went up to Ober Gatlinburg. We took the kids snow tubing while we were up there. So much fun. Savannah and Jack loved it the entire time. They both wanted to spin and go backwards down the mountain the entire time. Julia was a little scared a first, but quickly started to enjoy the fun. The last time we went down the mountain she wanted to go backwards as well.

After the exciting afternoon of snow tubing, we went to dinner at Bubba Gumps. We had a great waiter, who was very entertaining. He had all kinds of Forrest Gump trivia for us. Who knows what the feather symbolizes in the movie?

Wednesday has now come and it is time to go home, but not without a trip to Cherokee. In Cherokee, they have a great petting zoo where you can feed bears. The kids love it. We also got to see an Indian and the kids got their picture made with him. He was super nice. We got to hear a few stories about how he had never been anywhere away from Cherokee except one time he went to Philadelphia, Mississippi when he was 10 to play in a "stick ball" match.

We had a great vacation, but it went by too quick. Now we are back to normal life counting down until the next vacation. I guess that will be a weekend get-away to Natchez for Trey's first cousin's wedding.

Gatlinburg

On Monday of Spring Break we left Brian's in Acworth for a few days in the Smokey Mountains. Monday night we went to the Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge. The kids loved being able to eat without utensils. Julia was very engrossed in the show. So much that she did not want to eat anything. She loved the horses, especially the one that jumped through the fire.

After the Dixie Stampede we went back to Gatlinburg and walked around. Savannah and Jack had a fun tryin to get the giant ball in the water to stop spinning and go the opposite direction. After a walk down the strip, we had three very tired kids so we made our way back to the hotel for the night.

Tuesday was a very busy day. First, we spent the morning at the Aquarium. The aquarium in Gatlinburg is one of my favorites to visit behind the one in Baltimore. It seems to be a lot more child friendly than the one in Chatanooga and Atlanta. The kids love the tunnel you ride the moving path through to see all the salt water fish. The kids also enjoyed the tanks you could stand up in and it looks like you are in the tank.

Visit to McDonough and Acworth

Last Saturday we went to McDonough to visit some of our best friends in the entire world, the Magees and Burts. Actually they were our family when we lived in Georgia. We also got to visit with Ms. Loretta while we were there. She was the first person I met when we moved to Georgia. She is a super lady who will always hold a special place in our hearts. Sunday was Amy's birthday while we were there so we went out to dinner with the Burts, Magees and Horweges to celebrate. We went to one of Amy's favorite places to eat, LaParilla. We had discussed with the kids before we got there not to tell Amy that Trey did not like Mexican food. On the way to the resturant Amy called and told us that Jack had told her that his daddy did not like Mexican food. Savannah quickly informed him that his mommy had already told him not to tell Amy that. We reassured Amy it was fine to eat Mexican and that Trey would find something to eat.

After going out to dinner with our friends, we went back to Amy's house for desert and the kids played the Wii. We had a great time with the Magees and we miss them so much. It is great to be close enough so we can go back to visit though.

Sunday we got to go to our church in McDonough that we love, love, love, Eagle's Landing First Baptist. It was great to see everyone there and it is great to see that everyone there still loves us and misses us as much as we love and miss them.

After church on Sunday, we went to Acworth to visit with Brian and Erin. Erin did not get to eat lunch with us because she was playing in a tennis tournament, but we were suprised to find her home because the tournament was rained out. We spent the afternoon resting, watching tv and the kids and Brian playing Rock Band.

Jack's Kindergarten Play

Jack's Kindergarten Play was March 12 and 13, 2009. The play was titled "A Rumble In the Jungle". It was very cute. Jack was a safari ranger. He was one of the first people on the stage to say his line. At the end of the play he and the other safari rangers came out and did a dance. He was very cute. Here are a few pictures with his buddies.

SNOW, in Alabama in March?!?!

We woke up on the morning of March 1, 2009 to snow everywhere. This was Julia's first big snow. It snowed last year, but not enough to play in. The kids had a great time playing in the snow. They had snowball fights with Trey and made snow angels. Julia said that she made a snow castle. It is all melting away now, but it was fun while it lasted.

First Time Skating

Jack was invited to a skating party a few weekends ago and it was a treat to see him and Julia skating for the first time. Savannah has been skating a few times before, so she can skate pretty well. Jack is not a very good skater. Most of the pictures I was able to get of him was him on the floor. Julia did pretty well. She had to wear the skates that you strap onto your tennis shoes. She had a great time and thought she was a big girl.
