Destin 2009

On Sunday after the softball tournament, we left for Destin for the week. Brian and Erin came on Tuesday to enjoy time on the beach with us. We had a great trip.

Monday night, dinner at AJ's. We had a huge bucket of steamed seafood. I was taking lots of pictures of the kids and Trey and a lady at the table behind us must have felt sorry for us and offered to take a picture of us all together. It is not a great picture because she said my camera scared her, but at least we got a family picture. The kids got animals made out of balloons. Julia refused to have her picture taken with the pirate. Outside after dinner Savannah, Julia and Trey held a lot of parrots. Jack is kinda scared of animals and refused to hold the parrots.

On Tuesday evening we tried to get some pictures on the beach. It is always a hassle but we usually get a few great pictures of the kids. Here is a sampling of the pictures.
Then we went to eat at Fudpuckers. We waited for 2 hours and would not have waited if we had not promised the kids last year we would take them there the next time we came to the beach.

On Wednesday night, the kids went to spend the night at Trey's Uncle David and Aunt Candy's house with Mama Lynn, Aunt Kathye, and Ian while Trey and I went out to dinner for Erin's birthday.

Thursday we spent the day on the beach with David and Ian. The kids had a great time playing on the beach and in the swimming pool. We cooked a big pot of pasta and went to Kathye's house for dinner and fireworks.

Friday we spent the morning on the beach with red flags. Since it was really overcast, rainy and the kids could not get in the water, we decided to get ready and go to lunch. We ate lunch at Pompano Joes. Jack and Savannah tried raw oysters, but decided they did not like them. We went back to the condo and played at the pool. Trey grilled steaks for dinner. There is nothing like food that has been grilled on a charcoal grill.

Saturday morning we got up and hit the road for Alabama. We had a great vacation and cannot wait for October when we get to go back to Destin.

State Softball Tournament

July 11th and 12th, Savannah played in the State of Alabama Softball Tournament. The first game was against Haleyville and the girls played excellent. The game was called during the 3rd inning because we were winning 13-3. The second game the girls played Russellville. This game was a little more challenging, but the girls won this game as well. This placed us in the winner's bracket and sent home until we played on Sunday morning.
Sunday morning we had to play Piedmont in game three. The girls played their hearts out and were winning in the 5th inning to have a inning of errors to lose the game. The girls had one hour to wait before they played the next game. The next game the girls played Russellville again. It again was a great game and we won against Russellville again. The final game we played was against Piedmont again. The girls played hard and went into the International Tie Breaker Rule. The girls lost in the tie breaker and placed second in the State of Alabama.

Spring Park

Clip from the portaits Tim Roberts took of the kids at Spring Park.

Spring Park & Ivy Green

The kids were having portraits taken at Spring Park in Tuscumbia last Wednesday, so mom and I decided to make a day of it and take the kids to play at the park after the portraits. Tim and Danielle Roberts have been taking pictures of my kids since Savannah was 5 weeks old, so they are very comfortable with them and will do whatever Tim wants them to do. Tim sent me a video clip from his pictures and they are beautiful. I took some pictures of the kids during the photo shoot with my camera and I was very impressed with them as well.

We had to wait a while before the rides opened at Spring Park so we went to lunch. After lunch we still had a while to wait so we took the kids to Ivy Green. Savannah and Meg read about Helen Keller this year at school, so they were very excited to see the house. All of the kids were very attentive to the lady giving us the tour.

After the tour of Ivy Green, we went to Spring Park for the afternoon to ride the rides. The kids had a great time. Julia loved riding the snake coaster. Needless to say, on the ride home they were very tired.
