Jack's baseball team and families went to the Birmingham Barons game Sunday, May 23 to celebrate the win for the County Tournament. It was really hot, but we had a great time. Savannah went down behind the dugout of the Mobile team and smiled at the players coming off the field until one rolled her the game ball from that inning. She was super happy. She said the first baseman gave her the ball and winked at her.
After the game all kids 12 and under got to run the bases. Jack, Savannah and Julia all ran the bases, but I only got a picture of Savannah and Julia. They all thought they were big stuff running the bases on a big baseball field. After the game we had a relaxing meal (yeah right with 9 kids!) at Outback. It might not have been very relaxing but, it was a great meal. Trey and I were very happy the meal was good because the past three times we have eaten out an Outback we swore we would never go back. We had a great time. Our team is wonderful and the parents are great as well. I am so sad that the season is coming to an end at the end of this week. It has been a great season.

Marion County Tournament Champs
Jack's baseball team played in the Marion County Tournament this past week. We played Guin on Tuesday and won 9-0. Jack had two great bats on Tuesday. He smashed the ball to right field twice.
We didn't play again until Saturday morning at 9:00. We played one of the other Winfield teams and won. I cannot remember the score of that game, but I know we won. Jack batted twice in that game and he had two hits; a single and a double. He didn't smash the ball like he did on Tuesday, but he didn't strike out.
We played in the championship game around 1:00. It was a very intense game where the boys had to play the other baseball team and the umpires. Why the umpires felt the need to make not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 bad calls against our team beats me? They were not calls just I thought were bad, but calls where everyone including the coaches questioned the calls. Anyway, we were down 9-8 at the bottom of the 6th inning. Jack was first up to bat and hit a single. The next kid up struck out, but the next batter advanced Jack to third. Tucker hit the ball and Jack scored to tie the game. After that I am not for sure what happened exactly, but the next two batters hit and we got a run in and the game was over and we won 10-8! Yeah Gold Team!!
Tim Estes, Jack's coach, told the kids if they won the tournament he would let them shave his head, so as soon as the game was over they shaved his head.

Spring Piano Recital
Savannah and Jack both had their piano recital on Sunday, May 16th. Savannah played Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho and Jack played When the Saints Go Marching In. They both did a great job. Jack is very excited that he doesn't have piano lessons this summer so he doesn't have to practice, but I am not so sure Savannah is excited. She really likes piano. Jack likes it but really just does it because we won't let him quit.
Dance Recital
The girls had their dance recital on Saturday, May 15th. They both were beautiful and had a great time on stage. Julia had a little problem during the recital but it was quickly resolved. Julia's class went on stage to do their dance and Julia was not on stage. I told her teacher that she was back stage, but Julia never came out. So when the dance was over I went to get her and Julia said they wouldn't let her go out. I was extremely upset and you would be if you paid all that money and your child did not go on stage so I told Savannah's gymnastic teacher that Julia did not get to dance. As we are watching the recital go on, Mrs. Marilyn came over the PA and said for her class to go backstage and they were going to dance again. We quickly got back there and Julia did her dance beautifully.Savannah did a great job in her dance and gymnastic routines. She loves being on stage. This year in gymnastics she has gotten her standing back handspring and also a round off backhand spring. I was so proud of her. She twisted her wrist during the recital and fell doing something she says is very easy and was upset.

Marion County Champs
Savannah's softball team played in the Marion County Tournament this weekend. They got a bye on Friday so our first game was not until Saturday morning. The girls won the first game against Hamilton. We then had to play Brilliant in the championship game. The girls won the championship game 15-5. They played great and were hitting the ball better than they had all year. I was so proud of Savannah and her team. Great job girls!
Savannah is so excited because when you win a tournament the park puts a sign on the fence with the names of the girls on the team. Last year her team won Marion County Tournament and were 2nd place in the State Tournament so there are two signs with her name on it already and now a new one will be hung with her name on it as well.
